Disclaimer : ( Ghosts did not make the best of impressions when it first released a month back. On one side the game had the biggest release in terms of a Call Of Duty game with releases on PC, PS3, XBOX 360, PS4 & XBOX One thus making it the biggest selling game of 2013. On the other hand the next gen graphics have started to take a toll on both the game engine and the current gen consoles making it one of the worst looking games and also one of the worst back firing Infinity ward has faced in a long time. Despite that Infinity ward did sort things out with a life saving patch which got the game back to normal and make it look as good as it needs to be. )
This game is down right awesome. Instead of making another Modern Warfare game which Infinity Ward is extremely good at these guys have taken a huge risk and I would say it has paid off it's due. With this game they have not only created a franchise but have also forayed into their first next gen console game.
Ghosts is a treat right from the beginning. Be it flying in outer space or diving 300 feet underwater we get to do it all and even more. The story is quite similar to what we have witnessed before but it's the treatment that catches our eye. Ghosts are a group of elite deep covert operatives that were formed at the beginning of the Americans war with the Federation ( a collection of several countries throughout South America ) . As the all powerful U.S.A. is brought down to it's knees with it's own space weapon 'ODIN' turned against it these guys are the last line of defense left against it's bitter end.
In the single player campaign you get to play several characters throughout the game, the most noted being Logan, the main protoganist of the series. Logan and Hesh are brothers being tasked with several high profile covert missions across the game. The weapons are more stealth based ranging from assault rifles to shortguns and sniper rifles. From driving Humvees to Jet-skies we do just about everything and still can't get enough.
Also a new feature in-game is a dog named Riley who appears as a constant companion through several missions.You even get to control riley through remote speakers oufitted to the dog's ear which has been trained to respond to your commands.Charging ahead and silent takedowns are both available with each offering a satisfying hunt for the wicked.
The game is a visual treat , the graphics are crisp, the sequences are mind blowing and the sheer intensity is what drives the game forward. The post war apocalyptic setting is new to the series and Infinity ward has handled it quite well. Destruction is abound everywhere as you traverse this warzone. The space sequences are handled quite well. Travelling through space has never been this awesome and you get to live out the experince of an astronaut also the bullet physics work quite well outer space given the setting to be zero gravity. Also is the sheer brillance of underwater segments. Traversing through deep caves and high pressure canal openings with Sharks abound. Underwater gun fights are worth remembering as you are always on the move, gunning and swimming ( both at the same time ;) ).
Drones make a comeback in this game with several high profile operations involving both land and air. You get to control tanks , Aircrafts and even Space weapons all part of the modern warfare style drone operations. Silent kills are as awesome as taking out a battalion of tanks and you get to experience that aderaline rush only here at Call Of Duty. The multiplayer mode has also been enchanced and now features an Extinction mode where you get to fight against Alines ( sounds familiar ) ?? The player cap stays at 11 each , anymore and it wouldln't be much of a fun for either side.
The Final Verdict, Call Of Duty Ghosts is all they ever said it would be and even more as it makes an impressive mark on the Next gen consoles and an admirable sendoff to the previous ones. Get that Day one patch guys, that is all it needs to make a difference.
