God Of War

" There's nowhere you can hide, Spartan. Put as much distance between you and the truth as you want, it changes nothing. Pretend to be everything you are not: teacher, husband, father. But there is one unavoidable truth you will never escape: You cannot change. You will always be a monster "
' I know. But I am your monster no longer '

Where do I even begin. I have been playing video games for well over 15 years now. I have played every genre of game and there really isn't a game that has made me go wow for some time now, the last that happened was with the Witcher 3. But this game, oh my god, God Of war, what Sant Monica have achieved with this game is phenomenal. They made me go into frenzy, become sad, feel love, appreciate friendship and even taught me to be humble. All of these emotions packed into one huge action adventure game that never takes the camera away from you.
They are no loading screens, no QTEs, nothing that were part of the previous god of wars made into this, instead what we have is a complete reboot of the series, Despite continuing the story the game flips over everything else you know about the game, with a new premise where you are tasked with carrying you wife's ashes to the highest peak in all realms. What begins as a journey of grief quickly evolves into a complex plot that all but encompasses you into a lore rich, character driven Norse mythology that leaves no stone unturned.   In the 40 plus hours I spent playing though the game I have watched Kratos and Atreus's bond grow together though some beautiful moments and some rough patches, Borok and Sindri the dwarven brothers who are angry at one another at first but slowly begin to show care and compassion for each other

and Mimir (the talking head) providing some much needed comic relief and all the amazing stories that he tells us, Santa monica have put in so much effort to get the lore right, there is so much depth to every story told and every secret found. We are in a constant search for runes, artifacts, upgrades that continue to give us an edge over our enemies, Starting with the Leviathan axe and quickly unlocking the blades of Chaos gives a much needed variety to combat and god have they nailed it.
The movement and combat flow is stupendous with some breathtaking boos fights, the scale that is so dear to god of war still exists in all it's grandeur. There is a deep learning curve to how each skill works, you could simply hack your way through most of the game but learning the skills would give you a serious advantage over the enemies, strategy always pays off and it gets more and more complicated when traps and puzzles play into how you survive.
The graphics are amazing, beautiful environments with vivid colors and with 4K HDR support on the PS4Pro God Of War is truly one of the most beatuiful looking games on the PlayStation right now. The music, maker's breadth hats off to the composer for giving such a rich and unnerving music to every moment in this game. Each point, every scenario has been carefully handcrafted to perfection. Like a beautiful statue chiseled out of rock this game has been given life, meaning, purpose and grandeur by the likes of which I have never seen before in a game.
Final Verdict: Cory Barlog and everyone at Santa Monica deserves all the praise for they have recreated the god of war magic and have made Kratos the face of PlayStation for years to come ^_^
