Beyond Two Souls

Okay before I start reviewing one of the biggest and most abmitious games this generation has to offer, I gotta say I was never a fan of games involving paranomal activities in simple words ' Ghosts '. I have always had the misconception that a good horror game is goonna need zombies and necronymphs more than ghosts. Well to my sheer disbelief Beyond Two Souls has broken all those misconceptions I had and has excelled as a game in every possible way. The game is an Autobiographic one, narrated to us by a girl named Jodie who is the centre figure of this game thanks to her link to an entity from the beyond whom she refers to as Aiden. The story revolves around how she copes up with her life and as to how the people around her play a part in changing it. Along the journey we get to understand whether her power of being linked to this entity is a blessing or a curse. The story jumps back and forth between sequences giving us the familar non-linearity quantic dream games are known for.We get to play single player both as Jodie and Aiden or play co-op with a friend . That said the game is a visual treat. The graphics look stunning and fresh.

Quantic dream has done an amazing job with motion capture and the animations are life like. Ellen Page , Willem Dafoe , Eric Winter , Kadeem Hardision and the entire cast have done an amazing job with the subtle emotions and facial expressions.
I felt like watching a full length feature film thanks to the jaw dropping amiations. Normand Corbeil, Lorne Balfe & Hans Zimmer have all done an amazing job with the background score and in-game music . There is so much life into each and every tune and their usage of it in-game is astute. Controls follow the similar pattern as Heavy rain with complete motion sensing capabilties and quick in time events . For each of these events shape the story and has an impact as to how we progress.
A lot of choices to make along the way and a lot of consequences to live with. The gameplay in terms of Aiden is in a totally different league with us being able to travel through walls , hit switches , break doors, take control of people or even kill them. The blend of these two gameplays with one being a vulnerable girl and the other being a powerful entity is balanced quite nicely and the creators deserve every credit for it.
The final verdit being Beyond two souls is an awesome game and stands tall in the list of motion control games which inevitably the future of gaming is headed to and still manages to remind us as to why Quantic dream takes almost 5 years to make one good game. 3 cheers to you people :) .
